Dengue control room established in Peshawar

Operation underway in seven worst-affected union councils

A control room for dengue has been established at the District Health Office in Peshawar, which will operate 24/7.

On Saturday an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sarmad Saleem Akram, in which Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rao Muhammad Hashim, District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Idrees, EPI Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Arif, and other officials participated.

During the meeting, officials provided detailed briefings on measures to eliminate the dengue virus and prevent its spread. It was revealed that anti-dengue operations are actively underway in 11 areas across seven hotspot union councils in Peshawar.

So far, out of six hundred thousand homes in Peshawar, inspections have been conducted in eighty thousand homes, where dengue larvae were found in six hundred houses, which were promptly eliminated.

More than 1,700 teams are working against dengue in Peshawar, including 16 fogging machines.

Deputy Commissioner instructed the relevant departments to display banners regarding dengue prevention in mosques and union council offices, make announcements in mosques, and ensure the cleaning of water tanks as soon as possible.

He also directed that students should be educated about the elimination of the dengue virus during morning assemblies in schools, more teams should be formed, and awareness campaigns regarding dengue should be organized.

The meeting was informed that dengue mosquitoes lay their eggs in clean water, so we must not allow water to accumulate in our homes. We need to cover our water tanks and ensure that water does not stand in air coolers or any containers around the house.

Full precautions should be taken to eliminate the dengue virus, and screens should be installed on doors and windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering.

All household members, especially children, should wear long-sleeved clothing, and strict adherence to preventive measures should be enforced.

According to Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, all necessary actions are being taken to eliminate dengue in Peshawar, and we must all work together to eradicate the dengue virus.
