The Supreme Court has constituted six regular benches in addition to a five-member larger bench to hear some crucial cases in the upcoming week.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, will hear the PTI intra-party election review appeal on October 11. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali will also be part of the bench. The Registrar's Office has issued a notice to the PTI.
The SC had previously rejected the PTI's appeal regarding its December 3, 2023 intra-party elections on January 13, upholding the ECP decision.
A three-member bench, headed by CJ Isa and comprising Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, will hear the Wildlife Management Board case on Monday and the Dams Fund case on Wednesday.
A bench led by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, and comprising Justice Ayesha Malik and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, will hear a case on Thursday related to commercial activities in residential areas.
A five-member larger bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar and including Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Shahid Waheed, will hear tax cases.
Other benches formed to hear various cases include a division bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Athar Minallah; a three-member bench, led by Justice Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Waheed and a three-member bench led by Justice Aminuddin Khan and including Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.
A bench, headed by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and comprising Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Shehzad Ahmed Malik, has been formed. A two-member bench, consisting of Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, will hear criminal cases.
