Israeli airstrike in Damascus kills son-in-law of slain Hezbollah leader Nasrallah

An Israeli attack e on a residential building in the Mezeh district of Damascus has claimed the lives of three people, including the son-in-law of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed that Hassan Jaafar Qassir, Nasrallah's son-in-law, was among the victims of the strike, which targeted a building reportedly used by Hezbollah and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

"Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir, the son-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah, was among two Lebanese victims of the Israeli raid which targeted an apartment in a residential building in the Mazze district of Damascus," a told source close to Hezbollah confirmed AFP.

According to the SOHR, the three-storey building in Damascus housed members of Hezbollah as well as the IRGC. Two of the victims held Lebanese citizenship, with Qassir being one of them.

The Israeli military has not commented on the attack, but tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated in recent weeks, with Israel targeting Hezbollah positions in both Lebanon and Syria.

Jaafar Qassir's brother, Mohammad Qassir, who was in charge of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400 responsible for weapons transfers from Iran, was also killed earlier this week in a strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The death of Hassan Jaafar Qassir further escalates the ongoing conflict, with Israel maintaining a firm stance against Hezbollah's presence in Syria and Lebanon.
