Bank of America customers experienced difficulties accessing their accounts on Wednesday, though the bank stated the issue has mostly been resolved.
Reports of problems at Bank of America surged around 12:45 pm ET on Downdetector, a platform that monitors outages.
Numerous customers reported being unable to view their account balances. Some who were able to access their accounts were alarmed by seeing zero balances.
In a statement to CNN, Bank of America acknowledged that “some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today.”
“These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved,” Bank of America said. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The bank did not provide details on the cause of the issue. It remains uncertain when all systems will return to normal.
Several CNN employees with Bank of America accounts reported being unable to log into their accounts online on Wednesday afternoon. One customer received a message indicating that the balance for one or more accounts “may be temporarily unavailable.”
“Five accounts show zero balance, over 20K,” one Bank of America customer on Downdetector wrote.
Another customer mentioned that while he couldn't log in, his wife was able to, though her accounts displayed no balance.
“Shows my debt just fine tho,” another user said.
