Coldplay’s Chris Martin confirms band will stop making music after two more albums

Coldplay's frontman revealed they plan to stop making new music after their twelfth album, leaving fans in disbelief.

Chris Martin, lead vocalist of Coldplay, has revealed that the band will only release two more albums before they stop making new music. 

In an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, the 47-year-old singer shared that Coldplay plans to end their album-making journey with their twelfth release. 

"We are only going to do 12 proper Coldplay albums," Martin said, adding, "but we're a little bit behind. Not too far behind!" Bandmate Jonny Buckland humorously responded, "We're asking for an extension!"

When asked why they had settled on 12 albums, Martin explained, "That's just what it's supposed to be. I don't think anyone needs more than that from us. The Beatles did 12." 

However, Martin hinted that the group might explore other creative projects outside of traditional albums, suggesting future ventures could be "something completely different."

Coldplay’s tenth album, Moon Music, is set to release soon, featuring collaborations with artists such as Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Jon Hopkins. The band is also gearing up for a sold-out 2025 tour.

This is not the first time Martin has mentioned the band's decision to stop at twelve albums. He previously spoke to NME in 2021, affirming the band’s plan to conclude their musical journey after the twelfth record.

Meanwhile, Coldplay fans recently faced challenges with ticket purchases for the band’s upcoming tour, with issues surrounding Ticketmaster's authentication process leaving many frustrated.
