PTI yet to seek approval for Karachi protest rally

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has yet to secure approval from authorities in Karachi for a protest rally planned for this Sunday in the city.

The Commissioner of Karachi is currently gathering recommendations from deputy commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in the East and South districts, according to a local news channel.

A decision on the PTI's request to hold the rally is expected to be made after receiving input from these officials.

The PTI-Karachi intends to march from the Karachi Press Club to Mazar-e-Quaid, advocating for the implementation of the Supreme Court's ruling regarding reserved seats.

The party has submitted an application to the Commissioner requesting permission for the protest.

During a press conference on Wednesday, PTI’s city president, Raja Azhar, stressed that the Supreme Court's decision clearly confirms that the reserved seats rightfully belong to the PTI.

Meanwhile the Rawalpindi administration has entirely shut down the city by placing containers to obstruct the PTI from holding protests at Liaquat Bagh.

Liaquat Bagh has been fully sealed off, and Section 144 is in effect across the city, banning any gatherings, protests, or display of weapons.
