ISLAMABAD:

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Spokesperson Bakhtiar Muhammad announced on Thursday a nationwide initiative aimed at increasing tax compliance. The department will conduct seminars to educate taxpayers, and following this campaign, strict penalties will be imposed on those who fail to comply with tax regulations.

Speaking to PTV News, he explained that through seminars, workshops, and media outreach, the FBR plans to educate the public on tax laws, benefits and procedures. After the education drive, the FBR will adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards tax evasion, with penalties and legal action being taken against non-compliant individuals and businesses. The initiative is intended to encourage taxpayers to file their returns promptly and accurately. Multiple channels, including digital platforms, print and electronic media, and public seminars, will be used to maximise outreach, he elaborated.

When asked about the government's objectives, he stressed that improving the tax compliance culture is a top priority.
