Pakistan's Asjad Iqbal books spot in World 6-Red Snooker final after sweeping Indian rival

Iqbal won the first frame 49-18, and finished 45-0 in the final frame; the final game is scheduled on September 25.

Pakistani cueist Asjad Iqbal continued his domination after securing a commanding victory over India’s Malkeet Singh to advance to the final of the World 6-Red Snooker Championship.

In a one-sided semi-final, Iqbal outclassed his Indian rival, preventing Singh from winning a single frame in the best-of-11 contest.

Iqbal set the tone early, winning the first frame 49-18 and continuing his dominance with successive victories of 38-34, 46-13, 40-31, 52-13, and a crushing 45-0 in the final frame.

Singh struggled throughout, failing to mount a challenge or produce any significant breaks, while Iqbal sealed his victory with an impressive break of 40 in the sixth frame.

Earlier in the quarterfinals, Iqbal defeated Cyprus' Michael Georgiou 5-2, securing his place in the semi-finals.

Iqbal’s emphatic 6-0 win sees him advance to the championship final, where he will compete for the title.

Earlier on September 22, Iqbal and Awais Muneer showcased impressive performances, clinching wins in their respective matches.

Asjad cruised to a commanding 4-1 win against Mongolia’s Ulziitogtokh Davaasuren, showcasing dominance in every aspect of the game. He also achieved two breaks over 75 points.

The final score of his emphatic victory was: 50-18, 75(75)-0, 82(75)-0, 0-73(73), 64(61)-0.

Awais staged an impressive comeback to secure a 4-2 win over Mongolia's Mendsaikhan Bat-Erdene.

Despite falling behind in two frames, he fought back to clinch the match. The final frame scores read: 64(64)-0, 20-45, 0-54(47), 54-10, 53-21, 46-15.

Meanwhile, Awais Munir secured a convincing victory over Singapore’s Jia Jun Ong with a scoreline of 63-0, 65-0, 0-56, 36-02, and 35-26.

However, his momentum was halted in the next match as he was defeated by Israel’s Shachar Ruber. The match ended with frame scores of 16-43(43), 53-12, 43(43)-13, 8-64(64), 33-21, 12-40, and 40-10.

A total of 40 players are competing in the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship, divided into four groups. The top two players from each group moved forward to the knockout stage, which began on September 22. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on September 24, with the final match scheduled for September 25 (tomorrow).
