ABBOTTABAD:

Three members of the Abbottabad Ayub Medical Teaching Institution (AMTI) Board of Governors (BoG) have been accused of attempting to harass executives of Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) and create rifts among staff members.

The three members, Dr Aftab Rabbani, Javaid Ahmed Turk, and Ayaz Khan were restored by a court.

Meanwhile, AMTI Board of Governors (BoG) Chairman Dr Abid Jameel has termed a meeting of the three BoG members as illegal and a violation of MTI Act.

They also allegedly involved a suspended employee, Dr Ather Lodhi, in the meeting, which is a serious violation of disciplinary rules, he said.

Dr Abid Jameel, in a letter to the three BoG members, condemned their actions and stated that the meeting was a clear contravention of the MTI Act and Regulations. He also pointed out that the members had not complied with the required procedures for convening a meeting and had not provided an agenda.

The chairman also highlighted the achievements of the current BoG, including the improvement of the water drainage system, refurbishment of the doctors' canteen, and completion of the IBP building.

The controversy has raised concerns about the intentions of the three members and their attempts to disrupt the functioning of the hospital. An inquiry has been ordered into the matter, and the chairman has assured that efforts to root out corruption and nepotism will continue unabated.

The next BoG meeting is scheduled for October 2024, where the matter is expected to be discussed further.

Meanwhile, administration of ATH has issued a strict warning to its executives and administrative staff against entertaining or involving suspended employees in official meetings and discussions.

According to a notification issued by Dr Abid Jameel, Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of ATH, it has been observed that suspended staff members are still visiting various offices and premises of the institution, which is a serious lapse on the part of the administration.

The notification states that involving suspended employees, who have not been granted stay or interim relief by a court of law, in official meetings and discussions is a serious violation of disciplinary and other relevant rules and regulations of the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI).
