RAWALPINDI:

The Lahore High Court's Rawalpindi bench has rejected the investigation reports submitted by the Rawalpindi City Police Officer and the Saddar Beruni police station SHO regarding the disappearance of former Jail Adiala Deputy Superintendent, dubbing it unsatisfactory.

Former Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram went missing from the Jail Officers Colony on August 14, 2024.

Justice Chaudhary Abdul Aziz of the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court found the reports to be outdated, unsatisfactory, and conventional, and issued notices to the defence and interior secretaries, directing them to provide a detailed report by September 30.

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel, Imaan Mazari Advocate, criticised the police for using delaying tactics by submitting inadequate reports and requesting more time.

She urged the court to order the immediate recovery and production of her client.

Although a case has been registered at Saddar Beruni police station in connection with the former jail officer's disappearance, no significant progress has been made in the investigation thus far.

According to the family of the ex-Adiala jailer, he went missing after leaving home with police officials in plain clothes.

The court had ordered authorities to produce the missing former official at the earliest multiple times but no significant progress in the case was made.
