Tyler, The Creator makes film debut alongside Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme

Recording artist Tyler, The Creator has joined the cast of the Josh Safdie-directed film, Marty Supreme, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet. The movie marks the multi-talented artist’s first feature film appearance.

Although plot details remain confidential, the film is reportedly inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman. The screenplay was written by Ronald Bronstein and Safdie, who are also producing the film with Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet, and A24.

Reisman was a renowned American table tennis player famous for his flashy style and outstanding skills. He began playing at a young age and quickly rose to prominence, becoming a major figure in the sport, with multiple national and international championships to his name. He was particularly celebrated for his emphasis on spin and his unique forehand and backhand techniques. Reisman was a master of trickery, able to manipulate the ball in ways that baffled his opponents.

In addition to being a recording artist, Tyler, The Creator is a songwriter, producer, director, designer, and more. He first gained recognition in 2007 as the founder of the collective Odd Future before co-creating and starring in the cult TV show Loiter Squad on Adult Swim alongside his Odd Future collaborators.

He’s a Grammy-winning artist with six studio albums, and he launched the widely popular music festival Camp Flog Gnaw, which has sold out for ten years straight. Tyler also created two lifestyle brands, Golf Wang and le FLEUR*, which have partnered with established brands like Converse and Lacoste. He has also developed two more TV shows, The Jellies! for Adult Swim and Nuts & Bolts for Viceland, and designed a capsule collection for Louis Vuitton. His 2019 album *IGOR* debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and won the Best Rap Album award at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. His latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in June 2021, earning him a second Grammy for Best Rap Album.
