YouTube sensation MrBeast and Amazon are facing a class-action lawsuit filed by five former contestants of their reality competition show, "Beast Games." The lawsuit alleges serious mistreatment of participants, including claims of chronic mistreatment, sexual harassment, unpaid wages, and dangerous working conditions.
The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status on behalf of all affected "Beast Games" contestants, demanding compensation for unpaid wages and expenses, as well as unspecified punitive damages.
The lawsuit paints a grim picture of the show's production, claiming contestants were deprived of basic necessities like food, sleep, and medical care. Female contestants also reported a hostile working environment and instances of sexual harassment.
“While participants knew upon signing the contract at the production’s inception that they were facing a potentially long and challenging competition, they allege getting a lot more than they bargained for,” attorneys for the anonymous “Beast Games” contestants said in a statement about the lawsuit. “Several contestants ending up hospitalized, while others reported suffering physical and mental complications while being subjected to chronic mistreatment, degradation and, for the female contestants, hostile working conditions.”
The specifics of the sexual harassment allegations remain partially redacted, the lawsuit aims to "establish a pattern of sexual harassment" within the production.
MrBeast and Amazon have not yet responded to the allegations. The lawsuit casts a shadow over the highly anticipated "Beast Games" show, which was touted as the world's largest live game show with a massive $5 million prize.
