On the surface, Swiss model and mother of two, Kristina Joksimovic, appeared to have it all.

She had a thriving career as a catwalk coach, a polished modeling portfolio, and a life that took her from Hawaii’s beaches to the ski resorts of her Swiss homeland. As she herself acknowledged, there were many aspects of her life to be proud of.

However, without a doubt, the two things that brought Kristina the most pride were her daughters, who were born just 17 months apart in 2020 and 2021.

Kristina, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, made it clear that her two daughters, with their striking red hair, meant everything to her.

In September 2021, just weeks before the birth of her second child, Kristina posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram of herself and her eldest daughter, showing the back of the two as they sat by a lake in Basel, Switzerland.

“I am proud of many things in life but nothing beats being a mother,” she wrote.

Two years later, with her two beautiful daughters and her husband by her side, she shared another carefully posed photo, this time of the whole family, silhouetted on a sandy beach. It was captioned simply as "my world," but instead of writing the word, she used a small globe emoji.

Now, those images and words carry a deep sadness, serving as a reminder that while a camera captures a moment, it doesn’t always tell the full story.

Earlier this year, just six months after that second Instagram post, Kristina Joksimovic, 38, was found dead in the basement of the home she shared with her husband, who cannot be named due to Swiss privacy laws, in the affluent neighborhood of Binningen, a district of Basel.

The horrifying details of her death, which only surfaced this week due to the strict privacy surrounding criminal investigations in Switzerland, have shocked the nation and beyond.

Autopsy reports revealed that the slender, blonde-haired model was strangled, dismembered, and parts of her body were placed in a blender before being dissolved in a chemical solution.
