'PPP committed to national challenges, not power sharing'

PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Hasan Murtaza emphasized that his party is not in the current political alliance for power but to address national challenges. Speaking at a press conference, Murtaza clarified that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is focused on sharing the burden of national issues, not engaging in power-sharing arrangements with PML-N.

Murtaza pointed out that the PPP's withdrawal from the alliance would have significant repercussions on the political landscape, and reaffirmed that no agreements on power-sharing were made with the PML-N.

He added that the party's goal is to tackle national problems rather than pursue positions of influence.

His remarks come amidst reports that some PPP provincial leaders have demanded key government positions and hinted at leaving the alliance if their demands are not met.

Addressing these concerns, Murtaza reiterated that the party's commitment remains to the people and national stability.

A major portion of his press conference focused on criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of promoting parochialism and undermining national security.

He condemned PTI for its attacks on state institutions, including the Pakistan Army, and for attempting to hijack foreign policy. He called PTI's tactics a threat to the country's unity.

Murtaza also condemned PTI's undemocratic behaviour and personal attacks on women journalists, noting that the PPP promotes respect and positive politics.

He congratulated Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Faryal Talpur for the party's historic victory in the NA-171 by-election, calling it a triumph over a divisive mind-set. He praised the Rahim Yar Khan administration for conducting a free and fair election.

Murtaza concluded by emphasizing PPP's dedication to national dialogue and its advocacy for a "Charter of Parliament" to ensure parliamentary dignity and supremacy, and outlined plans for further organizational restructuring in Central Punjab.
