Two Florida men were arrested in Naples for their alleged involvement in an organized retail theft ring targeting major retailers.

Detectives from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office believe that Carlos M. Garcia-Ajete, 40, and Nivaldo J. Garcia-Vento, 41, had been stealing grooming products, such as deodorant, razors, and cosmetics, from stores including Publix, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Winn-Dixie throughout Florida.

Authorities received a tip that the pair, already suspects in a large-scale theft spree in Martin County, were planning to target Collier County next. Deputies spotted their brown GMC SUV leaving a Walmart on Collier Boulevard after Garcia-Vento ran a red light. During the traffic stop, Garcia-Ajete attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase.

Walmart surveillance footage revealed Garcia-Vento stealing a Gillette razor pack and leaving without paying. A search of their vehicle uncovered six large trash bags containing nearly $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise, including 400 deodorant sticks, razors, cosmetics, and fishing gear. Deputies also found a device used to deactivate store security tags.

Both men face multiple felony charges, including grand theft. Authorities are working to trace back the stolen items, which could be donated to shelters if unclaimed.
