Layyah survey reveals thousands of out-of-school children

Govt rolls out campaign to address educational gaps

The School Education Department has identified 5,771 out-of-school children in district Layyah following a comprehensive survey, with plans underway to integrate them into the educational system.

The South Punjab Secretariat is set to launch the second phase of its "Zero Out of School Children" campaign.

A review meeting for the campaign was held today, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab, Fuad Hashim Rabbani.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Services South Punjab, Engineer Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen, Deputy Commissioner Layyah, Ameera Baidar and CEO Education Layyah, Shaukat Ali Sherwani.

Fuad Hashim Rabbani emphasised the importance of the campaign, stating that it follows the successful pilot phase and will now extend to all union councils within district Layyah.

He highlighted the government's commitment to education through this initiative, which aims to address the discrepancies often found in reported data on out-of-school children.

Accurate data collection is critical, Rabbani noted, due to the tendency for reported figures to be inflated.

The campaign will ensure that identified children are enrolled in nearby schools and provided with necessary supplies such as uniforms, shoes, and stationery.
