Jamie Lee Curtis has added an Emmy to her list of achievements after winning Best Guest Actress in a Comedy for her role in the FX series The Bear.

The award comes as a significant moment for the actress, already known for her BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Academy Award victories. Her portrayal of Donna Berzatto, the troubled mother of Carmy, Sugar, and Mikey, in the show's second season has earned her widespread praise.

Backstage, Curtis reflected on her career and expressed gratitude for the opportunities she's had. “I’m the luckiest girl in the world,” she said.

“I’ve been an actor since I was 19. I’m 65. I sold yogurt that makes you shit for seven years, and I just never thought in my life that I would get to do work at this level, depth, and complexity and intelligence.” Curtis added that she feels “humble and incredibly grateful” for the chance to perform at this stage in her career.

Curtis's role in The Bear spanned two episodes, first appearing in the flashback episode titled "Fishes," which depicted a family Christmas dinner that took place five years before the show's primary events.

With this Emmy win, Curtis is now halfway toward achieving EGOT status, having previously won an Oscar for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Though she joked about her chances of winning a Tony, Curtis humorously admitted she’s not sure about her potential on stage: “I’ve never done a play, and I don’t stay up late.”

Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Curtis's co-star in The Bear, praised her work ethic and preparation, saying, “It’s so hard to show up as a guest on somebody else’s set and own it like Jamie Lee did. It’s really remarkable.”

Curtis triumphed over a talented pool of nominees, including Olivia Colman, Kaitlin Olson, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Maya Rudolph, and Kristen Wiig.

The Bear premiered on June 23, 2022, with its third season airing on June 26, 2023.
