In a recent Instagram Story, Fitrat actor Saboor Ali Ansari shared a wistful message for her late mother: "If life gave me a chance, I would like to rewrite my mother's life story because she deserves so much more than what life gave her." The text accompanied a reel and was punctuated with a red heart.

Saboor's mother, Rahat, passed away in 2017 as a tragic result of her battle with cancer. Both she and sister Sajal Ali, also a TV show and film actor, were devasted by the news. In the past, they have recounted their mother's memories in number of instances.

In an interview, the 29-year-old actor said, "What can I say? We'd never imagined that such a thing could happen. We all went for Umrah, which was our family's first trip together. The day we got there, my mother was struck by a fever. We deemed it a normal thing, as both Sajal and I'd caught a cold, too. We were hospitalised when we returned, which is a common thing that happens when you return from there."

"But mum's fever wasn't subsiding," she added. "Several days after that, she was diagnosed with cancer. It wasn't anticipated. We didn't see any symptoms. And I was the one who took her to the hospital, so when the doctor informed me, I didn't react at all. I wanted to understand what was going on, so I looked it up. After another check-up, just to confirm that this wasn't a false alarm, it got worse somehow."

"Mere days after that, she died," Saboor regrettably shared. "All of a sudden, she was gone. What's more is, she didn't want to leave, even if she was satisfied with accomplishing all that she had. But in compliance with her wishes, I told my siblings to not put her on the ventilator. If she's leaving, let her leave. We shouldn't put her in pain out of our own selfish needs."

"At her last breath, she perked up when she heard my brother's voice. That was shocking, even for the doctor. So it was clear that she didn't want to leave us," the actor emphasised, tearing up at the memory. "This affects my brother the most, as he lives alone, and he sometimes calls when he's crying. But even now, my siblings and I rarely muster the strength to talk about this."

Grappling with the loss of one's mother is never an easy experience for anyone. Seven years later, it is clear that Saboor still holds grief in her heart.
