Suspect, security guard, passerby die in shootout near Millennium Mall

A daring robbery attempt near Gulistan Johar's Rashid Minhas Road Millennium Mall resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a security guard, a suspect and a passrby.

The suspects failed in their bid to loot Rs200 million from the cash van of a builder.

According to Sharea Faisal police station SHO Faisal Gul, the builder's staff was transporting the funds in a cash van from North Karachi on Friday evening when three bandits on two motorbikes attacked, firing shots and bursting the tyres of the van near the Rashid Minhas Road Millennium Mall U-turn.

The security guard, Mubeen, opened fire on the robbers, but he and two passersby, including 55-year-old Abdul Waheed, were injured by the robbers' retaliatory firing. Mubeen and Waheed succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The robbers managed to loot some money from the cash van, but an amount of two crore rupees was saved from looting.

The police mobile from the nearby Sharea Faisal police station arrived at the scene, and after an encounter, the police arrested three robbers, including two injured ones.
