Spotify has revealed its Top 5 Global Songs of Summer for 2024, with hits from Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, and Chappell Roan.

These tracks not only topped the charts but also became the soundtrack for listeners around the world. Let’s explore how each song captured the summer.

"Espresso" – Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter’s "Espresso" led the summer charts with its catchy beats and distinct chorus. Released in April, the song was an instant hit, with its beach-themed music video solidifying its summer vibe. "Espresso" spent 20 days at No. 1 on Spotify’s global charts and topped regional charts in countries like Australia, Malaysia, and Jordan.

"Not Like Us" – Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s "Not Like Us" became a summer anthem with its razor-sharp lyrics. Following Kendrick’s Juneteenth concert, the track saw a massive boost in streams, peaking on June 20. The release of the music video on July 4 helped the song hold the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s U.S. chart for 28 consecutive days.

"BIRDS OF A FEATHER" – Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish’s "BIRDS OF A FEATHER" from her album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT gained over 855 million streams and skyrocketed after her performance at the summer games closing ceremony on August 11. With over 9 million streams the next day, the track became a global favorite.

"A Bar Song (Tipsy)" – Shaboozey

Shaboozey’s "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" topped charts globally, inspired by J-Kwon’s early 2000s hit "Tipsy." The song became a favorite across the U.S., Australia, and the Nordics, with Spotify reporting unprecedented growth in country music in new regions.

"HOT TO GO!" – Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan’s "HOT TO GO!" saw its biggest spike on June 10, the day after her Gov Ball set. A cover feature on Spotify’s I Love NYC playlist led to a 350% growth, and her later Lollapalooza performance helped her Hot Pink playlist surge by 145%.
