Prince Harry has delivered an emotional new message emphasising the healing power of sport, just days after reuniting with his brother Prince William in the UK. The Duke of Sussex released a video on 5 September, highlighting how sport can change and save lives, ahead of the 2025 Invictus Games, which will be held in Vancouver.
In his heartfelt statement, Harry said, "Sport has the ability to heal, to change lives and to save lives. For so many of these competitors, getting to the start line has been one of the hardest moments of their life. But at the Games, their lives are changed."
The video serves as a preview for the upcoming Invictus Games, a global event for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel, founded by Prince Harry. His message comes just hours after Prince William made his first public appearance since their reunion at their uncle’s funeral last week.
Prince William visited the Saatchi Gallery in London to promote a homelessness awareness project, which he hopes will generate new perspectives on the crisis. While Harry’s statement focused on sport and healing, William’s appearance highlighted the ongoing challenges of homelessness and the importance of hope.
Prince Harry has also announced that the Invictus Games will return to the UK in 2027, with the inaugural Games held in London in 2014. The Duke hosted an anniversary event earlier this year to mark the occasion at St Paul’s Cathedral.
