During Mac Crystal era both Kunar and Nouristan were left on mercy of Taliban. which effected very negatively on Pakistan as when ever we broke back bone of TTP in Bajor and Mohmand they had kunar and Nouristan to retreat and re group.
The first thing which we saw after removal of Mac Crystal was Operation in Kunar .
I think Mac Crystal by nature was a bully. Patriace seems to be a realist general and I hope things will be better for both Afghans and Pakistan now because a new man in command is a better man who understands things pragmatically.Recommend

After appreciating the appointment of General Petraeus, General Kayani highlighted the need for the support from the local tribes in the South Waziristan region. This is important because locals are always well aware of the ground realities and their support can easily help in locating prime targets.Recommend
