CCTV footage captures foiled robbery attempt at a store on Karachi's Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road, one suspect caught.

An attempted robbery at a general store on Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road in Karachi was foiled on Sunday.

CCTV footage of ther incident on Sunday shows two men, one of whom was armed, attempting to rob a wholesale dealer store.

However, their attempt was thwarted  by locals who opened fire resulting in one of the robbers getting injured.

One of the robbers fled from the scene leaving his armed accomplice behind who wasthen  apprehended by bystanders.

Street crime surged by 100% during the past six months in Karachiwith violent street crime remaining the biggest challenge for the metropolitan city's law enforcers.

The rising street crime and ineffective policing is forcing the public to take law into their own hands.

Suspected bandits are often subjected to mob justice in a move that would further erode public confidence in rule of law in the metropolitan city. In other cases resistance by citizens is met by violence with victims shot and killed in many instances.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the business leaders recently expressed deep concern about the worsening law and order situation, where none feel safe except heavily-guarded VIPs like politicians and bureaucrats.

The apathy of political parties has dashed any hopes for improvement, further frustrating business leaders who view Karachi as a crucial contributor to the national economy and a major source of employment.
