As many as 14 new cases of dengue were reported in the last 24 hours in Rawalpindi city on Friday, with medical experts raising alarm about the dengue spread during the ongoing monsoon season.
Poor measures have been blamed for the spread of dengue as despite the tall claims of the district health department, dengue is not under control.
With the sun appearing and the weather turning ideal for dengue larvae and mosquito breeding, medical experts have also sounded the alarm of a daily increase in dengue cases from September 1 to October 31.
At least 14 patients have been diagnosed with dengue in the last 24 hours and this is the highest number of dengue cases in a single day this season. The condition of two of these patients is said to be extremely critical. The total number of dengue cases has jumped to 78.
The most dengue patients have been reported from Dhok Mangtial, Bangash Colony and Union Council Chak Jalal Dinthe inner city. Declaring these three union councils dangerous for the spread of dengue, house-to-house checking and spraying have been kicked off.
To stop the recruitment of ghost workers, Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema issued orders for one-by-one physical checking of 827 newly recruited dengue sanitary patrol workers along with the verification of their CV ID card and recruitment letters. The Civil Defence Department has started regular on-the-spot checking of these workers in the union councils.
This year, as many as 1,726 cases have been registered in violation of dengue larvae presence, 522 building units have been sealed and fines to the tune of Rs7.88 million were imposed by issuing challans.
