Netflix is gearing up to deliver action-packed thrills with its upcoming Indonesian film, The Shadow Strays, directed by the renowned Timo Tjahjanto. The film, which has already generated buzz with its intense teaser trailer, is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival's (TIFF) Midnight Madness section in September before its global release on Netflix on October 17.
The Shadow Strays tells the gripping story of Codename 13, a young, highly skilled assassin who unexpectedly bonds with Monji, a boy on a quest to avenge his mother's tragic death. When Monji mysteriously disappears, 13 defies her mentor and the shadowy organization she serves, The Shadows, embarking on a perilous mission to save him.
The film features a stellar Indonesian cast, including Aurora Ribero, Hana Malasan, Ali Fikry, Adipati Dolken, and Andri Mashadi. This lineup, coupled with Tjahjanto's signature directing style, promises a thrilling ride that blends high-octane action with emotional depth.
Timo Tjahjanto is no stranger to the international film scene, having directed popular Netflix titles like The Big 4, May the Devil Take You, and The Night Comes for Us. His latest project is expected to further solidify his standing as a prominent figure in Asian cinema, especially as he gears up to direct Nobody 2, the much-anticipated sequel to Universal’s action hit starring Bob Odenkirk.
