Marisa Tomei, known for her role as Aunt May in the recent live-action Spider-Man films, expressed her admiration for her younger co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya during a panel at Fan Expo 2024 in Toronto.
Tomei fondly recalled watching the two actors not only grow in their roles but also develop a close personal bond that blossomed into a romantic relationship.
"I think some of the favorite things were really just watching Tom and Zendaya grow up and watching them fall in love… and seeing their phenomenal talent," Tomei responded when asked about her favorite memories from working on the Spider-Man trilogy. She continued to express her amazement, stating, "Just being, like, blown away from the get-go… I mean, I'm blown away."
Tomei also praised Holland and Zendaya's ability to handle the pressures of stardom while remaining grounded and multi-talented. "They carry enormous, enormous star power, enormous power and they manage to be real people at the same time and just, they're multitalented," she said.
"They can do everything! They sing, they dance, they act, they do stunts, they design fashion. I mean, what are they not doing? They're incredible, incredible people."
The three actors appeared together in three successful Marvel films: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The franchise has collectively earned over $1.5 billion at the box office.
Holland and Zendaya, who were 21 and 20 years old respectively when the first film was released, confirmed their relationship in 2021 after years of speculation.
