Information Minister calls for politics-free approach to combat terrorism

Federal government has requested K-P CM Ali Amin Gandapur to establish a Counter Terrorism Department at its earliest.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has urged political parties to avoid politicising the issue of terrorism for the nation’s sake.

He said we have requested Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur to establish a Counter Terrorism Department at its earliest.

Tarar further added that there is a need for safe city initiatives to combat terrorism.

The minister reflected on the government of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, noting how the 2015 operation in Karachi had significantly improved the city’s security and law and order situation.

He commended the security forces and the law enforcement agencies for sacrificing their lives for the country.

Additionally the House offered prayers for martyred souls of the officials of security forces and the law enforcement agencies, who lost their lives in numerous terrorism incidents.

Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces have recently seen an uptick in violence, including target killings and militant attacks.

Earlier on Monday, a motorcycle-borne bomb attack in Razmak subdivision of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district killed at least four people and injured eight others.

Meanwhile, Balochistan experienced one of its most violent days recently, with over 40 lives lost in multiple terrorist attacks across various districts.

The deadliest incident occurred in Musakhail, where 23 passengers were executed after being offloaded from a bus. In Kalat, an attack on security forces resulted in 10 deaths, including both civilians and security personnel.

In response to the attacks on innocent civilians, the military sprung into action and wiped out 21 suspected militants, while a major terrorist attack was thwarted in the Lasbela district.

Addressing a Cabinet Meeting called over the overall security and lawn and order situation in the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government's resolve to end terrorism in Pakistan, promising to provide the military with all necessary resources to combat the threat.

The premier declared, “There is no room for terrorism. The time has come to end it. We will provide the military with whatever resources it needs.”
