Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has announced a major overhaul of Pakistan Television (PTV) that he dubbed as "Operation Clean Up."
Under this initiative, 25 low-performing shows have been canceled, and a new policy emphasizing transparency, professionalism, and constructive criticism has been introduced.
In his statement, Tarar outlined his commitment to eliminating bribery, addressing incompetence, and combating fake news on the state-run public broadcast channel.
The Minister also announced plans to hire professional anchors and producers to improve programming quality.
Additionally, Tarar indicated that measures would be taken against those conducting malicious social media campaigns against the reforms.
