3 gas firm workers kidnapped in Bannu

Three employees of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) were kidnapped at gun point from Baka Khel area of Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

Local residents told The Express Tribune that these men were carrying diesel in their vehicles when they were intercepted by terrorists and taken away.

The terrorists latter released a video of the three men in which they could be seen appealing the government to accept the demands of the kidnappers in order to secure their safe release.

Police said that all the three men hailed from Punjab and they worked for SNGPL in Baka Khel. These men were taken away along with their vehicle by the militants.

The incident caused widespread panic in the locality where terrorists still roams freely.

Background

This is not the first time that government employees have been kidnapped by terrorists as in October 2021, four employees of Forest Department were kidnapped from same locality.

Police told The Express Tribune that a Forest Range Officer, a Forest Guard, Assistant Monitoring Division Officer and a driver went to the Barani Dam area in the former Frontier Region (FR) Bannu on a routine visit where they were kidnapped by unidentified miscreants on October 25.

"The monitoring officer is a woman identified as Shaista Bibi who had been kidnapped along with driver, forest guard and a colleague," police said.
