PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has expressed dissatisfaction on the administrative matters in government hospitals and issued a warning letters to all District Health Officers (DHOs) and Medical Superintendents.

The letter highlights several issues, including a lack of cleanliness, failure to follow duty schedules, and incomplete patient history charts.

It also notes that doctors' prescribed medications and diagnoses are often missing, and clinical staff are not following up on investigations or conducting physical examinations.

Furthermore, the letter points out that nursing staff are not properly registering and handing over patients, and consultants and specialists are only doing morning rounds, with medical officers absent in the evening.

The letter also criticizes the poor cleanliness in hospitals, including unclean bed sheets and dustbins, and notes that supervisors are not checking patient charts, which are often incomplete or empty.

The letter directs that a 36-hour duty roster should be created for all CCUs, ICUs, and labor rooms. Additionally, all medical superintendents and deputy medical superintendents are instructed to ensure biometric attendance of staff, adherence to dress code, complete patient OPD charts, and maintenance of district health information system registers. The letter warns that failure to comply will result in action being taken against those responsible.

In a development that has triggered a wave of concern across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the province has reported its second confirmed case of mpox, bringing the total number of patients to two. The latest case was confirmed by K-P Director of Public Health Dr Irshad Roghani.

The patient, a 47-year-old man from Nowshera, had recently returned to Pakistan from Dubai.
