RAWALPINDI:

Six major mourning processions of Zuljanah, Tazia, and Alam will take place on Monday, August 26, in remembrance of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and the martyrs of Karbala. These processions will follow traditional routes and conclude at Imambargah Qadeem by midnight.

Participants will engage in lamentation, self-flagellation, and mourning during the processions. Zuhr and Asr prayers will be offered collectively at Fawara Chowk, followed by a mourning assembly addressed by Allama Qamar Haider Zaidi. Afterwards, an hour-long procession featuring "zanjeerzani" (self-flagellation with chains) will proceed from Fari Chowk to Dingi Khoi Chowk in Raja Bazaar. Maghrib and Isha prayers will be held at Jamia Masjid Road.

The first mourning procession will depart from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain in Teli Mohalla at 12:30am, passing through Teli Mohalla, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal Road, and Alam Khan Road before joining Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain at 1:30pm. The third Zuljanah procession will start from Imambargah Hifazat Ali Shah in Bohar Bazaar at 2pm and merge with the first two processions at Chowk Bohar Bazaar. Imambargah Shaheedan Karbala's procession will join the Dingi Khoi Chowk's main procession after Asr prayers.

Another procession will depart from Imambargah Darbar Shah Bin Chirag at 3:30pm, joining the main procession at Old Fort Sarafa Bazaar Chowk. These processions, along with five Zuljanahs, will continue to Imambargah Al-Qadeem. The mourning Zuljanah procession from Imambargah Baltistania will begin at 12:30am, passing through Bani Chowk and Jamia Masjid Road, and concluding at Imambargah Al-Qadeem, where Maghrib prayers will be offered. The Majlis-e-Uzra, featuring prominent scholars, will explore the philosophy of martyrdom.
