Playboi Carti, known for his enigmatic persona, recently found himself in the spotlight for a more relatable reason.

New footage from a 2022 traffic stop in Atlanta has surfaced, showing the rapper being pulled over by police while driving at 84 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.

Accompanied by fellow rapper Ken Carson and an unnamed female passenger, Carti explained to the officer that they were "trying to get straight back home."

The video captures a candid exchange between Carti and the officer, where the rapper admits he was in a rush to get home from the Gramercy Apartments.

"Boss, I ain't gonna lie, I ain't never seen y'all right there," Carti says in the footage, attempting to explain his speeding.

The officer responds, "Oh so you're only speeding because you know there's no cops there?" Carti, maintaining his honesty, replies, "I'm just being honest man, I'm just trying to get home."

After receiving his citation, Carti questions how his license hasn’t been suspended despite accumulating several speeding tickets.

"I got a lot of speeding tickets! I just got for a god damn hunnid and a god damn 70 in Smyrna," Carti tells the officer, who advises him to slow down and possibly "hire a lawyer."

Before leaving, Carti adds, "Y'all will see me again."

Despite the high-speed infraction, the interaction with the police remained relatively calm, and Carti was allowed to return to his vehicle after the citation was issued.

This incident comes amid recent criticism of Carti's high ranking on Complex's best Atlanta rappers list, where he landed at number 12.

Commentators like B. Dot have been vocal about their dissatisfaction, with B. Dot even stating, "Playboi Carti couldn't rap a GIF."

While Carti faces critiques in the rap community and brushes with the law, his fans remain eagerly awaiting his next musical move.

Rumors of a collaboration with Travis Scott and a potential "OOCACTUS" concert have fans speculating about what the enigmatic artist has in store.
