PTI, JUI-F join hands to pressure govt in parliament
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) have decided to adopt a joint strategy in both houses of parliament – National Assembly and Senate – to put pressure on the government.
A PTI delegation led by Chairman Barrister Gohar called on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and congratulated him over the amended verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.
The PTI delegation included Barrister Gohar, Rauf Hasan, Asad Qaiser and others. JUI-F chief warmly welcomed the PTI team.
According to sources, they discussed the current political situation of the country and exchanged views on ways to put pressure on the government in the National Assembly and the Senate.
The two parties formed committees for pushing legislation in parliament and decided to move further through mutual consultation.
The leaders of JUI-F and PTI held a joint presser after the meeting. PTI spokesman Rauf Hasan said both parties will keep on holding meetings in future as well.
He also confirmed the formation of the committees. He termed the meeting with Maulana Fazl a pleasant one, adding it was the first meeting on the committee level.
"Our committees in the National Assembly and Senate will decide to adopt a joint strategy." Rauf asserted.
On the occasion, JUI-F leader Maulana Ziaur Rehman said the committees will decide all matters related to legislation in the National Assembly and Senate with consensus.
PTI leader Shibli Faraz and JUI-F leader Kamran Murtaza are part of the Senate committee, while the committee comprising PTI chairman Barrister Gohar and JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri will oversee matters in the National Assembly.
Akhunzada Hussain Yosufzai said, "First, we took Mehmood Khan Achakzai into confidence before this meeting," adding he also urged forging unity among opposition parties.
