KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to the Sindh Home Department, IG Sindh, SSP East and SHO Sohrab Goth on a petition against the DSP Sohrab Goth for threatening to kill a citizen in a staged encounter.

Counsel for the petitioner, Munsif Jan Advocate submitted that on August 19, the Chowki in charge called Habib Wali and told him that DSP Sohrab Goth wanted to see him.

As soon as petitioner Habib Wali went to the police station, the DSP threatened him to leave Karachi before sunset. The DSP warned, if he does not leave Karachi before sunset, he will kill him in a fake police encounter.

The petitioner lawyer maintained that an attempt is being made to take possession of the applicant's property. Action should be ordered against DSP Sohail Faiz according to the law. Order should be issued to provide protection to the petitioner. The court while issuing notices to the respondents, directed them to reply by August 30.

Apart from this, a petition related to the kidnapping, forced marriage and recovery of a minor girl from New Karachi was heard in the SHC. The shelter home authorities produced the girl in the court. In her statement, the girl said that the accused Rafaqat took her to Sialkot and forcibly married her.

The court ordered the investigating officer to record the girl's statement and hand over the girl to her parents. The court disposed of the petition on recovery of the girl child.
