The body of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch has been recovered from the wreckage of a sunken yacht off the coast of Sicily, Italy, an Italian government official confirmed. The yacht, carrying 12 passengers and 10 crew members, sank after encountering a violent storm early Monday morning. Fifteen people were rescued, but several remained missing.
As of Thursday, only Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, remains missing. Four bodies, including those of Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, were identified on Wednesday.
Lynch, 59, was known for founding Invoke Capital and co-founding Autonomy and Darktrace. He was recently acquitted in a U.S. fraud trial after a decade-long legal battle. Many of the yacht's guests had ties to Lynch, including his lawyer Chris Morvillo, who also perished in the incident.
Recovery efforts have been ongoing since the sinking, but the challenging conditions of the wreck have complicated the process. The violent weather that caused the sinking appears to have been unexpected, with no weather warnings issued.
