On Thursday, August 22, rumors were swirling that Beyoncé might make an appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However, that speculation turned out to be false.

According to Beyoncé's longtime publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, the singer was never scheduled to appear. It seems no one checked with her team before the rumors started circulating. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to clarify that Beyoncé could have been anywhere, but she definitely wasn’t at the United Center that night. "Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there," her representative told the outlet, confirming that reports of her performance were untrue.

Despite the false rumors, Vice President Kamala Harris did take the DNC stage to Beyoncé’s song "Freedom" as she accepted the party's nomination for President of the United States, making history as the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead the ticket of a major political party.

Although Beyoncé wasn’t present, there’s still speculation that she, along with Taylor Swift, might make a campaign appearance for Harris and Tim Walz in the future. Until then, make sure to vote in November.

As for the source of the rumor, it was TMZ that initially reported Beyoncé’s supposed appearance, leading to criticism online.
