Cardi B shuts down claims of skin bleaching during pregnancy

Cardi B refuted allegations of skin bleaching during her pregnancy, explaining the reason for her pale appearance.

Cardi B has strongly denied rumors that she is bleaching her skin while pregnant, attributing her pale appearance to anemia. The rapper responded to a user on X (formerly Twitter) who questioned, "Has Cardi been bleaching her skin?" The speculation arose after Cardi posted a photo of former City Girls MC JT cradling her baby bump. Cardi, who recently announced she is expecting her third child with estranged husband Offset, quickly shut down the rumor.

"Bleaching while pregnant? Why must y’all be so dumb?" Cardi tweeted. "Actually NO! I’m pregnant, I’m slightly anemic, this baby sucking all the energy off my body to the point I’m pale, eyes sunken, veins green ASF, can’t tan under the sun cause I get hot super fast and dizzy." She concluded her response with a plea for people to "stop thinking with your a–hole!"

According to the American Society of Hematology, anemia is a condition that can occur during pregnancy when the body does not produce enough red blood cells. Pregnant women are at higher risk due to increased blood volume and the body's need for more iron to supply oxygen to the fetus. Symptoms of anemia can include fatigue, weakness, and paleness of the skin.

Despite the criticism, Cardi received support from another user who praised the picture with JT, noting, "This is a beautiful picture @iamcardib. You have to really trust and genuinely care about someone to allow them to touch you and your child this way."

Cardi and JT were involved in a public feud in 2022, but the recent photo suggests their differences have been resolved. In other news, Cardi recently completed the cover shoot for her long-awaited sophomore album, though the title and release date have yet to be announced.
