New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, urged the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night to include Palestinian voices, as uncommitted delegates staged a "sit-in" protest outside the Chicago venue.

AOC took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her disappointment that no Palestinian speakers were included in the DNC's four-day lineup.

This omission came as the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an American hostage in Gaza, addressed delegates, with chants of "bring them home" echoing in the background.

AOC emphasized the need to recognize the humanity of the 40,000 Palestinians killed in Israeli bombardments, stating that ignoring their story contributes to their dehumanization.

The exclusion of Palestinian voices at an event in a city with a significant Palestinian population sparked further protests, with uncommitted delegates demanding that Vice President Harris unite the party with a vision that includes all lives, including Palestinian ones.

They vowed to continue their protest until they received a response from VP Harris, underscoring the importance of aligning the party’s actions with its commitment to equality.
