Former Bangladesh cricketer and ex-chief selector Faruque Ahmed has been appointed as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following the resignation of Nazmul Hassan.

The leadership change was confirmed during a board meeting held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Wednesday.

Faruque Ahmed, who played seven ODIs for Bangladesh, takes over from Nazmul Hassan, who stepped down after four terms as president.

The announcement was made by Iftekhar Ahmed, the chairman of the BCB's umpires committee, during a conversation with Cricbuzz.

He confirmed that Faruque Ahmed had been elected as the new head of Bangladesh’s cricket governing body.

Faruque Ahmed brings considerable experience to the role, having previously served as the BCB’s chief selector from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2013 to 2016.

His appointment marks a new chapter in the board's leadership as Bangladesh cricket continues to evolve on the international stage.
