Selena Gomez recently opened up about her emotional reaction to securing a role in the French musical crime comedy film "Emilia Perez," directed by Jacques Audiard. On Instagram, Gomez expressed her excitement, saying in a video, “I can't believe I got the movie… I am so gonna cry right now. I don't want to cry… This is going to be so cool.”

In her Instagram post, Gomez shared several photos and videos, including one of herself hugging her mother and another from a dress rehearsal. The film’s set was also featured in the images, which include co-stars Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascon, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir, and Edgar Ramírez. "Emilia Perez" centres on a disgruntled lawyer who helps an escaped Mexican cartel leader undergo sex reassignment surgery to evade authorities and affirm her gender.

Earlier this month, Gomez discussed her admiration for Meryl Streep, her co-star on "Only Murders in the Building." In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez praised Streep’s talent and humility. “She’s an inspiration, and she’s someone who is incredibly talented while being very humble, professional, and kind. I’ve learned so much from her just by her being Meryl,” Gomez said.

Gomez also recalled a moving experience, stating, “My favourite moment was watching Meryl sing onstage. That was chilling, and she would do it acapella, live every time, and I cried. I wasn’t in the scene, but I was there sitting in the audience, and I was completely moved and was brought to tears.” She described Streep’s commitment to her craft as "remarkable" and "beautiful."
