Tony Goldwyn, widely known for his role as President Fitzgerald Grant in the television series “Scandal,” made a significant appearance at the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.
The actor and director took the stage to express his support and endorsement of Kamala Harris, emphasizing his continued involvement in political advocacy.
Currently starring as a Manhattan district attorney on “Law & Order,” Goldwyn also took on the role of host for the event. His presence at the DNC adds to a long history of political engagement.
Goldwyn is no stranger to activism; he co-chaired the Innocence Project’s ambassadors program, a national organization focused on exonerating the wrongfully convicted through DNA testing and other scientific advancements. The Innocence Project, established in 1992, has been a central part of Goldwyn’s advocacy work.
Beyond his acting career, Goldwyn has directed notable projects such as “Conviction,” a film about the exoneration of Kenny Waters, a man wrongfully imprisoned for 18 years. He also co-created the legal drama series “The Divide.”
In the political arena, Goldwyn directed a 2016 commercial in support of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. More recently, he attended a reproductive rights event with Joe Biden’s reelection campaign earlier this summer, when Biden was still considered the presumptive nominee.
Goldwyn's involvement at the 2024 DNC further cements his position as a prominent figure in both the entertainment industry and political activism.
