ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to concerned parties in a case pertaining to recounting of votes in NA-97 Faisalabad.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Amin Uddin Khan accepted the case for hearing after the arguments of petitioner's lawyer Ali Gohar Khan.

The petitioner's counsel maintained that the margin of difference between the winning and losing candidates' votes stood at only 2,341 votes while as many as 9,198 votes were rejected. He said the returning officer was given an application for recounting of votes before compilation of the final result but the returning officer did not entertain the request.
