Robert De Niro leaped from a yacht on his 81st birthday in a video shared by daughter Drena

Robert De Niro made a splash on his 81st birthday by leaping off a yacht, as captured in a video posted by his daughter, Drena De Niro, on Instagram. The video shows the veteran actor diving into the blue sea from a height of 36 feet, with Drena exclaiming, “Woah, he’s so crazy,” and later asking, “Oh my god, are you alright?” to which De Niro responds, “Yeah, I’m okay.”

Drena’s Instagram tribute included photos of De Niro with her late son, Leandro, who tragically passed away last year from an accidental overdose. Drena’s post was a heartfelt celebration, captioned: “Happy 81st Bday to my Dad and #1 ride or die .. Love you with all my ♥️♥️♥️ #BobbyD forever ✨👑✨.”

Robert De Niro, who shares Drena with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, also has five other children: twins Julian and Aaron, 28, son Elliot, 26, and daughters Helen Grace, 12, and Gia, born in April 2023.

De Niro previously spoke about the pain of losing Leandro in an interview with People, expressing his shock and ongoing regret over the tragedy. “I never thought it would happen. And I just then started thinking about all the things I could have, should have done maybe with him,” De Niro said.

Drena’s tribute highlighted both a joyful celebration and a poignant reminder of the family’s recent loss.
