Republican DA candidate calls for immediate dismissal of Young Thug YSL trial

Courtney Kramer vows to restore justice if elected, slamming the ongoing trial as a waste of taxpayer money.

Courtney Kramer, the Republican nominee for Fulton County District Attorney, has publicly challenged the current DA, Fani Willis, to immediately dismiss the ongoing Young Thug YSL trial. 

In a statement posted on X on August 17, Kramer criticized the trial for being more about gaining fame than delivering justice to the community. 

"I challenge my opponent to do the same thing, the right thing, and end this prosecution and release the accused in this case who are being held without bond," she wrote.

Kramer, who currently serves as an associate attorney at The Katz Legal Group and has previously worked under Donald Trump in the White House, has consistently argued that the trial should have ended by now. 

She expressed disappointment in the lack of prosecutorial oversight and the amount of taxpayer money spent on a case that she believes is built on the testimony of unreliable witnesses. 

She vowed that, if elected, dismissing the YSL case would be her first official action as DA, stating, "If elected, I intend to restore justice, transparency, and integrity to the Office of the District Attorney."

The Young Thug YSL trial, which began in 2022, centers around allegations that the rapper was operating a criminal gang under the guise of his YSL record label. 

Kramer has labeled the trial a "loss of the court’s time" and accused the current prosecution of lacking preparation and failing to produce exculpatory evidence. 

She emphasized that her campaign is not about partisanship but about doing what is right for the community.

Kramer has outlined her plans to prioritize community safety, address the backlog of rape kits, and combat politically motivated prosecutions if she is elected as Fulton County's next DA. 

She concludes her statement with a call for integrity, fairness, and the protection of constitutional freedoms in the DA’s office.
