Bangladeshi batsman Mahmudul Hassan has been ruled out of the upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan.

The Chief Physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed via email that Mahmudul Hassan has sustained a back injury and would require three weeks of rest.

As a result of this injury, Mahmudul Hassan will miss the Test series against Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning here that, the first Test will begin in Rawalpindi from August 21. The second Test match of the series is set to be shifted from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

Set to begin on August 30, the match will now follow the first Test, which is also scheduled in Rawalpindi starting on August 21, said the Pakistan Cricket Board in a press release.

This decision was prompted by ongoing renovation work at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, which is being upgraded in preparation for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Initially, the PCB planned to hold the Karachi Test without spectators, but the urgency to complete the first phase of renovations necessitated the relocation.

Kookaburra balls

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Kookaburra cricket balls will be used for seven home Test matches in the ICC World Test Championship.

These matches will include two Tests against Bangladesh, three against England, and two against the West Indies.

Under the ICC World Test Championship rules, the home board has the discretion to choose the brand of cricket balls used.

The domestic cricket season is scheduled to start next month. For this season, Dukes balls will be used in all senior red-ball domestic matches.

For grassroots and developmental cricket, the PCB will use Aceline and Grays balls in Under-13, Under-17, and Under-19 tournaments, as well as in schools, universities, clubs, and inter-district competitions.
