The strained relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry has reportedly reached a new low, with the brothers having not spoken since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral nearly two years ago. A recent report by The Sunday Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah reveals that even after Harry and Meghan sent a message of sympathy to William and Kate following Kate’s cancer diagnosis, the gesture went unreciprocated.
According to the report, Prince William did not inform his brother about Kate’s diagnosis before her global video address. Harry and Meghan’s office later issued a public statement expressing their well-wishes, and it was made known that they had reached out privately to William and Kate. However, Nikkhah reports, “That contact was unreciprocated.”
This revelation highlights the deepening rift between the brothers, which has been a subject of public scrutiny since Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties. The last known communication between the two was at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, where, according to Harry’s memoir, they exchanged only a few words. Kate reportedly told friends that appearing together with Harry, Meghan, and the crowds of mourners at Windsor Castle on September 10, 2022, was one of the “hardest things” she had ever done.
Friends close to Harry suggest that he misses his life in the UK and the admiration he once received. One of Harry’s "oldest friends" described him as “an angry boy” who “misses being over here [in Britain] desperately.” The friend also mentioned that Harry’s social circle changed after he began living with Meghan, with former friends being replaced by wellness and yoga gurus.
On a positive note, sources indicate that Harry is focused on fatherhood and his humanitarian work. A friend noted, “He sees he has a longer runway to add value… There needs to be a bit of substance there.”
