The government of Punjab had announced a reduction of Rs14 per unit in electricity rates, but the relief will not extend to consumers using up to 200 units per month.

Sources revealed that the relief of Rs14 per unit would only apply to consumers using between 201 and 500 units of electricity per month.

The plan excludes those consuming 200 units or less, as their rates had not been previously increased.

The relief is set to take effect for the billing cycles of August and September 2024, according to government sources.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the Chief Minister's efforts to provide relief to the people, highlighting the government's commitment to public welfare.

Information Minister Atta Tarar further added that Nawaz Sharif's empathy for the people drives such initiatives.
