Flash floods, rain-triggered incidents kill eight, injure dozens, damage crops and infrastructure in various regions

At least eight people were killed and dozens injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan, as heavy monsoon rains continued to wreak havoc on Saturday.

Flash floods and severe downpours battered regions including Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Ziarat, Pishin, and Chaman, damaging houses, crops, and infrastructure. Several homes experienced roof and boundary wall collapses, leaving at least 10 people injured in Balochistan.

In Chaman, flash floods washed away a railway track, while another was damaged in Noshki, cutting the rail link between Pakistan and Iran.

Sukkur plunged into darkness after receiving 180mm of rain last night, while Faisalabad saw 131mm of rainfall on Friday, flooding low-lying areas.

Scattered showers also hit Lahore, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicting more rain over the next 24 hours.

The PMD revised its advisory, noting a shift in the monsoon system from Karachi and lower Sindh towards central and upper Sindh, as well as Balochistan. The likelihood of heavy rain in Karachi has decreased, with light to moderate showers expected.

Cities like Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur are forecasted to experience heavy rainfall until the morning of August 19.
