JARANWALA:

A man reportedly set fire to his ex-wife's dowry after she filed a lawsuit for child support.

Rescue teams doused the fire, while the Saddar police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspect.

According to the complaint lodged by Muhammad Adnan Sher, a resident of 211GB, his sister Farzana Kausar had married Sajjad Rasool 12 years ago, and they had four children.

A month ago, due to domestic issues, a dispute arose between the couple and Sajjad divorced Farzana.

The woman's dowry, which included furniture, clothes and utensils was locked in a room at Sajjad's home in Al-Khair Town.

Farzana had filed a lawsuit for maintenance and child support in the Samundri Civil Court.

In retaliation, Sajjad and his brother Yaqoob set fire to the dowry items.
