With less than a month remaining before the 76th Emmy Awards, the hosts for the event have been announced. As anticipated, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, the father-son team, will be hosting this year’s Emmys, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15, airing live on ABC.

The Levys made history in 2020 as the first father and son duo to secure major awards in the same year, thanks to their work on “Schitt’s Creek.” That year—during which winners accepted awards remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic—Eugene Levy won for outstanding comedy actor and Dan Levy took home the award for supporting comedy actor. Dan Levy also received awards for writing and directing, while both won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series as executive producers.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” The Levys shared in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will be the first father-son pair to host the Emmys and are also the first hosting duo since Colin Jost and Michael Che in 2018, making them only the second duo to host this century.

“Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.

Eugene Levy will also have a significant night, as he is nominated for his Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” which is competing for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special.
